The color of your teeth can affect the confidence you have about your smile. Although it is not permanent, teeth whitening (bleaching) is a simple dental treatment used to change the color of your teeth. Whitening can be accomplished through a one visit in office procedure or as part of a take home two week system. Some needs for tooth whitening may include:
- Fluorosis (White patches on teeth caused by excessive fluoride during tooth formation)
- Normal wear of outer tooth layer
- Stained teeth
Touch-ups may be needed every several years when receiving whitening treatment. They may be needed more often if you smoke, drink coffee, tea, or wine. Existing fillings and crowns will not be affected by the treatment and may need to be replaced to match the new color after whitening is completed. Whitening is noninvasive and can enhance the beauty of your existing smile.
